Professor Marilyn Waring

Marilyn is internationally known for her work in political economy and development assistance and human rights. Her book Counting for Nothing is an international bestseller and is the basis of the Canadian documentary Who's Counting. She has held Fellowships at Harvard and Rutgers Universities. She is a Member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
Marilyn is also working in the Solomon Islands as the Gender and Government Adviser in the Machinery of Government programme, contributing to the effective implementation of the strategy for advancing the position of women in government, the public service, and participation in voting, Boards and Commissions and advocacy. In addition to this she provides guidance and advice on capacity development whilst establishing linkages with national and regional resources and networks on gender issues and gender main streaming.
