Local Government brief for incoming Minister

  AUT University's Local Government Centre has provided the incoming Minister of Local Government, Rodney Hide, with an independent perspective on the principal issues confronting the local government sector. The document focuses on the role an effective local government sector can play in addressing the current economic crisis.

Pacific Gender and Effectiveness Case Studies   Marilyn Waring and Nic Mason from AUT University, with Peggy Fairbairn-Dunlop from Victoria University, Wellington, and Elizabeth Reid from Australian National University, Canberra, have been researching a sample of NZ and Australian-funded aid projects in the Pacific - in the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Samoa. They have been assessing the aid projects through gender equality and aid effectiveness lens. The aim of the research is to provide recommendations for practical ways in which NZAID and AusAID can strategically advance gender equality in the future through existing aid effectiveness principles.
