Ian Hassall and the Chief Human Rights Commissioner, Rosslyn Noonan gave evidence by videolink before the Canadian Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs on 5 June. The committee were considering a bill to repeal their equivalent of New Zealand's S59 of the Crimes Act. To read more click here. |

| May 1st Launch of New Centre |
On May the 1st AUT University launched a development board for Economic Development – a field of scholarship in which AUT has built a national and international profile and reputation.
Five years ago the Institute of Public Policy (AUT) launched the graduate programme in Economic Development following endorsement by EDANZ (the professional association) as the basis of its accreditation for Economic Development Practitioners. Today, the Economic Development Centre administers research and development programs in local, regional and metropolitan development with outstanding examples being the Metropolitan Auckland Project and the Metropolitan Development Program which encompasses the major metropolitan centres of Asia and the Pacific.
